It's Kind of a Big Deal !

             Introducing…(drum roll please)…Orrville’s new look!

Well, not technically speaking, of course.  But we believe that this brand, spanking new logo and slogan will help us all do a better job of sharing the essence of Orrville at a glance.  A good branding image will do not only that, but will also make people want to know more.

For many years Orrville’s tag line has been “A City of Diversified Industry.”   We weren’t able to track down exactly when that began, but we know was many decades ago.  Certainly it is still a true statement and we will continue to proudly talk about the wide range of amazing manufacturers we have here.

Following a series of Chamber led meetings, a community survey, and plenty of valuable input from many good people we were ready for the next step.  As we developed a greater understanding of the importance of telling our community story in today’s world of technology, we agreed to explore a new branding image for Orrville.  As representatives from city hall, local businesses, and community residents shared their thoughts on what it really means to be a part of Orrville, we were able to begin working on a new look.

The end product had to represent the people who live here, the people who work here, and the businesses that call Orrville home.   It needed to stand for our unique blend of history, values, accomplishments, goals and certainly our optimistic approach to team work.

After considering a multitude of words combined into a wide assortment of phrases, none of which quite said it right, the answer came from a yellowed newspaper.  Quite by chance, a 1966 special edition of the Daily Record Courier Crescent surfaced and it had just the right words printed in red across the front page: “Orrville: Where Progress & Tradition Make a Wonderful Community!”

Eureka!  Our committee said “that fits!” and it felt good.  It was exciting to know that what was written 45 years ago still held true.  Indeed, that identified the fabric of Orrville beyond a doubt. After working through several versions, and holding the end result up against the many important aspects of Orrville that had risen to the top, it was settled.  “Orrville: Where Progress & Tradition Meet.”

The next step was to filter out and apply two other words that seemed to jump off the long list of ideas:  Thrive Here!   That would become the inner message, the marketing theme, the personal story, the business report, our proof and our future.  Bingo.

This is for all of us. We urge every person, every business, every organization to adopt this brand, this slogan, this theme.  Use it to tell your own story and to tell everyone how your own traditions have allowed you to progress into today’s Orrville and beyond.

Show the world that together we can and we do indeed  “Thrive Here!”
